My name is Katharine (Kat) Tabora and I am a FREELANCE Designer BASED IN DALLAS, Texas. My work consists of designing both print collateral and digital assets, including direct mail, newspaper ads, store signs, logos, social media graphics, and much more.
I have a B.S. in Strategic Communication: media Design and a minor in Journalism from the University of Colorado Boulder College of Media, Communication, and Information (CMCI). My studies at CU Boulder included UX/UI design as well as producing advertisements in video, audio, and print. As part of my studies, I performed as a member of an Advertising and PR agency, with our team creating an original marketing campaign, creative brief, and product redesign.
My experience also includes writing and editing copy through both my journalism classes as well as my numerous freelance roles as a Marketing strategist. I am familiar with drafting press releases, editorials, columns, conference briefs, and much more. I am also skilled with managing and creating content for corporate social media platforms and publications including digital newsletters.
My education extends beyond strategic communication and the Denver/Colorado region. During the summer of 2019, I worked as a Graphic Design intern at 720 Strategies, a PR firm in Washington, D.C. I also obtained a certificate from the Washington Media Institute where I advanced my skills and knowledge of critical media practices such as UX/UI design, video and audio editing, photography and videography, among many other essential media skills. I’ve had many opportunities to apply my skills to real world situations. For example, as part of my freelance work, I rebranded the strategic advisory company, Velotech Strategy as well as Rachel Cole's Choose Happiness motivational brand. I have also created and presented a proposal for a website redesign to a national news publication during my summer internship in Washington, D.C., and I also presented a product packaging redesign proposal to the sparkling tea brand, HopLark, as part of my Campaigns coursework.
